MUSTONE [ YO-KAI ]

Nanzuka Underground is pleased to announce “YO-KAI” by MUSTONE , second solo exhibition in Nanzuka Underground. MUSTONE had worked mainly on canvas drawn by oil chalk in the past, but he is now working new painting and sculpture with the use of silicone resin in this exhibition.
MUSTONE has been originally researching on spectrology which is from ancient tradition of Japan, as the inspiration to bear basis of his own expression activities. YO-KAI（specter）is drawn comically, sometimes seriously, as evil creature to trouble people, or as the goodness to admonish people. MUSTONE has his attention to people's spiritualism charmed by its existence.
The idea of the mystery and awe which we often take in is the most important element for MUSTONE’s works. He draws "Something" that is taken by people's most sharpened sensitivity as YO-KAI, just like it has the symbolic word of "dwelling". That is why YO-KAI drawn by MUSTONE does not look like a stereotyped Monster.
MUSTONE carefully selected the motif for works based on his own special experience towards this exhibition. These works are the forms of things lives in parallel world which MUSTONE has looked in. Also they are expressing “Pleasant Sensation” which he was saved by. MUSTONE says “it is a pleasant sensation fascinated by mystery, in another word, mysterious pleasure". We wonder if such sensitivity dwells in every one of us just like him.

MUSTONE est un des peintres alternatifs les plus demandés au Japon,en tant qu’artiste underground. Il a commencé sa carrière avec des graffitis, puis il a travaillé son art de la culture manga en créant son propre petit ouvrage. Mais MUSTONE, c’est avant tout de l’art à taille humaine. Il excelle dans les performances de peinture en temps réel et il organise régulièrement des expositions de ses oeuvres. Il a aussi monté une ligne de t-shirts avec ses designs. En bref, l’art de la rue se met au manga avec l’ART et la manière.
Franck Bouroullec
Franck Bouroullec est un artiste reconnu en France. Après avoir terminé les Gobelins, il travaille pour des productions animées (Astérix et Obelix, le Piaf...) avant de s’emparer de son pinceau pour émerveiller le public. Ce peintre de génie arrive à synthétiser toute l’expression d’une personne grâce son pot de peinture, mais surtout son talent... et tout ça en une dizaine de minutes ! Le showman sera là pour vous en mettre plein la vue, à vos pinceaux !
A vos Pinceaux... ou vos crayons !
Dans le prolongement de ces 2 artistes de talent, vous pourrez assister et participer à 3 heures d’atelier de création numérique. En bref, créez votre manga avec l’ordinateur... et faites-le vivre ! Avec l’association Ar-Image expérimentez et faites naître votre propre imagination sur l’écran, animé par la souris et vos pensées ! Inscription sur place.

"It is thought that "YO-KAI" gradually increased the kind as the image of the monster drawn in "Mountain and sea sutra" written for instance in China in about BC5 century etc. uniting. KAMAITACHI?KAPPA"ONI?TENGU?ZASHIKI-WARASHI?aud HINOTAMA????"YO-KAI" was created with a feeling of awe at time as said that an ancient god that the origin was not built into the system of Shintoism had. It is a good example that "ONI" becomes the object of the belief of people as "KISHIN". The oldest description concerning "YO-KAI" in Japan is a legend concerning TENGU and ONI in "Nihon-syoki" compiled at the Nara era. However, it might be the on in "Hyakki-yagyo-emaki" assumed the formation at the Heian era that it became a visual expression as the accumulation of such a legend brings it together. The most famous one is "Hyakki-yagyo-emaki" of "Mitsunobu Tosa" assumed drawing in the middle of Muromachi age now assuming that we can see itAfterwards, the genre of this ""YO-KAI" picture" came to be widely established to the people culture as the printing technique developed in Edo period. A lot of artists enchanted to "YO-KAI" exist in the past. Is it the ukiyoe master "Kuniyoshi Utagawa" at the Edo latter term, and an end of Edo era to present an especially remarkable talent?It might be "Kyousai Kawanabe" active until the Meiji era and be "Shigeru Mizuki. ""YO-KAI" of evil spirits of the mountains and rivers and strange appearance put up the infinite imagination, and it drove and it is necessary to have put up.
